ACADEMIC INFORMATION
Each term (semester) consists of 17 weeks. A full academic load is 16 units per term. The total course time is ordinarily four years (8 semesters) and 128 units. PABATS of which FBC is an associate member requires 128 units for graduation.
Load: A full load for a year is 32 credit units.
School Days : FBC classes meet Tuesday through Friday but students are also required to do practical work (Field Experience) each weekend in the local church to which they are assigned. Monday is designated as the “day off” for FBC students.
Audit Courses and Special Students: Approved students who wish to audit courses may do so. They will be charged the regular tuition fee and also asked to attend class regularly and complete the course requirements. This is also required for all Special Students.
Grading System: An average grade of 3.0 is required to pass any subject. Below is listed the official FBC grading system:
| Grade Point | Percentage | Mark |
| 1.0 | 97 – 100 | A+ |
| 1.25 | 94 – 96 | A |
| 1.5 | 91 – 93 | A- |
| 1.75 | 88 – 90 | B+ |
| 2.0 | 85 – 87 | B |
| 2.25 | 82 – 84 | B- |
| 2.5 | 79 – 81 | C+ |
| 2.75 | 76 – 78 | C |
| 3.0 | 75 | C- |
| 5.0 | 74 | F |
A grade of 5.0 placed on the student’s permanent record indicates a failed course. When a student fails to complete the requirements of a course before the term ends, he may be given additional time to complete those requirements if there is a reason deemed acceptable by the professor. However, in such cases, all course requirements must be completed not later than 30 days after the end of the term. If a student fails a course, he must again take that course (or an officially approved substitute course) before he can graduate.
Absences: Students are allowed two unexcused absences per class, per term. An additional two absences will be granted only if the student presents a written excuse from a doctor. Students in a three-unit course who are absent more than four times for any reason cannot receive credit for the course. Students who miss a test or exam will not be allowed to take it at a later time unless they present an excuse letter substantiated by a doctor’s note. The missed test or exam must then be taken within a period of seven days from the date of the test or exam. In case of extended illness, the registrar’s office should be informed so necessary adjustments can be made.
A student is considered tardy if he arrives more than 10 minutes late for class. If he is later than 20 minutes, he will be marked absent. A teacher may not excuse tardiness except in ncases of real hardship or emergency.
